These Terms of Use govern your use of Become American, a free beta civics practice game. By using or playing the game, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

Educational use only

This is an independent study aid, not a government service, immigration service, legal service, or official USCIS product. It is not legal advice and does not replace official USCIS materials or advice from a qualified professional. The game is in beta and uses artificial intelligence that makes mistakes, including incorrect answers, explanations, or grades. Verify important information with official sources.

No guarantees

The game is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We do not guarantee that a particular question set, score, data feed, or AI response is complete, current, or error-free.

Acceptable use

Use the game lawfully and do not attempt to disrupt it, bypass safeguards, scrape or abuse upstream services, or use it to make decisions about another person. You are responsible for your use of the game and for protecting any information you choose to enter.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Become American and its contributors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, opportunities, or goodwill arising from your use of the game. Our total liability for any claim relating to the game will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the game in the preceding twelve months or $10.

Informal resolution and arbitration

Before starting a formal dispute, you agree to contact us and give us 30 days to try to resolve it informally. To the extent permitted by applicable law, any dispute that is not resolved informally will be resolved by confidential, individual binding arbitration, rather than in court. You and we each waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class, collective, or representative action. The arbitrator may award the same individual relief a court could award. Nothing here prevents you from bringing an eligible claim in small-claims court or seeking public injunctive relief where the law requires that option.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms by posting a revised version. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. Questions about these terms can be sent through the project’s published contact channel.
